Care for an elderly married couple living together. An 87-year-old gentleman, 70 kg, 175 cm, suffered a fracture of the right humerus after a fall, underwent surgery and rehabilitation, and attends physiotherapy. He suffers from dementia, can be confused at times, but sometimes normal communication is possible. He has impaired short-term memory and hand tremors. He is currently wheelchair-bound and requires complete assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, and transfers. He uses incontinence pads. He can now sit in his wheelchair and drink independently during meals. He goes for walks in his wheelchair. He takes sleeping medication at night and may exceptionally require assistance during the night depending on his current health status. The 82-year-old lady suffers from dementia with impaired short-term memory; her long-term memory is intact. She has a disturbed day-night rhythm, osteoporosis, a thyroid condition, and a fractured femur neck after a fall. She takes a mild antidepressant. She is physically independent and primarily needs guidance and motivation with personal hygiene and dressing. She does not require assistance at night. The primary duties include complete care for the gentleman, assisting the wife, meal preparation, laundry, and general household chores. Cleaning is handled by a home helper, and shopping is done by another person. The household is equipped with an adjustable bed with a trapeze, a toilet chair, and a barrier-free bathroom. Free time by agreement.
