Care for an independently living 88-year-old gentleman (75 kg, 175 cm) who has a fractured vertebra. He moves with the assistance of a walker. He should not walk alone; he requires accompaniment and support while walking. He needs assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, and, as needed, with toileting. He is generally not incontinent, but incontinence aids are available as a precaution. The caregiver cooks, shops, cleans, does laundry, and, as needed, takes care of the garden, watering plants both inside and outside the house. Occasional car trips, for example, for lunch or cake, are also part of the duties. Night duty is not regular. Approximately once every two weeks, he may require assistance during the night. The gentleman uses a urine bottle or a commode chair and will call for help if needed. There is a stairlift in the house. No lifting is required. A car with a manual transmission is available. Free time is by agreement.
