Care for a 65-year-old elderly lady, 138 kg, 165 cm, who is post-surgery for a brain tumor and pulmonary embolism. She has asthma and urinary and fecal incontinence. She is bedridden. The lady cannot stand or walk, she needs to be sat on the edge of the bed and transferred to a wheelchair or a recliner. A lifting device assists with transfers. She requires full assistance with dressing, washing, hygiene, and toileting. She is washed in bed. Incontinence products need to be changed. The lady tries to help as much as her capabilities allow. She eats independently, but her meals need to be prepared and she needs to be supervised to ensure she drinks enough. The caregiver cooks, shops, cleans, and manages the household. She also runs small errands. Companionship, conversation, and spending time together normally are important. Medication is prepared by her husband. A physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and rehabilitation services come to the home. Doctor's appointments are managed with the husband. Night duty may be required once per night, but this is mostly covered by the husband. Besides her husband, an adult son also lives at home and works from home. A profiling bed, wheelchair, commode, and standing aid are available. Free time by agreement.
