Care for an elderly married couple living together. An 86-year-old gentleman, 75 kg, 168 cm, suffers from moderately advanced dementia and mild heart failure. He tires easily and can react negatively under stress, so a calm, patient, and kind approach is necessary. Care must proceed at his pace. He is mobile, uses a walker and a shower chair. His day-night rhythm is disturbed, and he wakes up once a night. Mostly, supervision is sufficient, or he can be calmly guided back to bed. He needs assistance with hygiene, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, and medication intake. An 83-year-old lady, 70 kg, 160 cm, is physically weakened after a fall, has difficulty walking, and uses a walker. Mentally, she is fine, communicative, and enjoys sleeping during the day. She should not be left alone with her husband without support. She requires partial assistance with hygiene and dressing; she manages toileting independently. She wears incontinence pads or diapers. Medications need to be monitored and their regular intake supported. The duties include full household management such as cooking, shopping, laundry, cleaning, and general household organization. Shopping is done partly with the family and partly independently. Shops are very close by. The family helps with medication sorting once a week. Night work is occasional, mainly if the gentleman is restless at night. Free time as agreed, including two afternoons off per week. The caregiver has her own bathroom available.
