Care for an 82-year-old gentleman, 65 kg, 178 cm, who is recovering from colon cancer surgery and has a suprapubic catheter. He is physically weak, sleeps a lot, and moves with the aid of a walker or with assistance. He does not have dementia. The gentleman strives to be as independent as possible. He requires help with personal hygiene (entering and exiting the shower, washing, washing hair), dressing and undressing, walking (including stairs), getting up, and using the toilet – particularly with managing his stoma. He uses incontinence aids for urine. He eats independently, but regular shared meals and ensuring adequate fluid intake are necessary. The caregiver is responsible for daily household tasks: cleaning, laundry, cooking, shopping in coordination with the family, and dog care (feeding, walking). Accompanying him to doctor's appointments or other scheduled events as agreed with the family, running errands, and maintaining a daily routine are also required. The gentleman has a calm disposition, accepts help, but also needs his personal time. With motivation, he enjoys participating in activities, spending time in the garden, and walking the dog. He appreciates company. Two people live in the household – his wife (77 years old, care level 2), who suffers from arthritis in her hands and needs only minor assistance with tasks like washing her hair or small daily chores. The caregiver should also assist her as needed. Help from relatives is possible by arrangement. Night shifts and heavy lifting are not required. There is a dog in the house.
