Care for an elderly married couple living together. 86-year-old lady, 60 kg, 160 cm, suffers from dementia. She recognizes familiar people, is only partially oriented in her home environment, and needs supervision when outside the home. Her orientation in time is mostly preserved, but she cannot organize appointments, her short-term memory is deteriorating, and she often repeats the same questions. She is not aggressive nor prone to wandering. She suffers from macular degeneration and has significantly impaired vision. Physically, she is fully mobile, moves independently without aids, and gets up without assistance. She primarily needs supervision, guidance with hygiene, reminders to change clothes, and assistance with showering and washing her hair. Medications are prepared in advance; supervision of their intake is necessary. She has a check-up with an ophthalmologist every three months. 87-year-old gentleman, 80 kg, 170 cm, suffers from lung cancer, has eczema which is managed by a nursing service, and uses incontinence aids preventively for potential urine leakage. He is oriented in time, space, and regarding people. He speaks little but can express his needs. He has impaired hearing, and it is necessary to speak to him loudly and clearly. He walks with the aid of two crutches, is at risk of falling, and requires supervision when outside the home. He needs partial assistance with dressing, hygiene, and showering, but cooperates with other activities to the best of his ability. He eats independently and manages toileting on his own. Medication intake needs to be supervised, he needs to be accompanied to doctors' appointments, and supported in his daily activities. The scope of work also includes household management for both seniors, meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, laundry, handling everyday errands, accompanying them to medical appointments, and providing companionship (conversations, walks, maintaining a daily routine, and supporting independence). Nighttime awakenings are not required for the couple. Shops are within walking distance, and a bicycle is also available. The family visits them regularly, and an emergency call button is available in the home. Free time is arranged by agreement.
