Care for an elderly married couple, a 93-year-old lady, 65 kg, 162 cm, and a 99-year-old gentleman, 75 kg, 170 cm. The lady is mobile with the help of a walker, suffers from early-stage dementia, has short-term memory problems, and is partially disoriented in time. She also has mobility issues due to painful hip osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis. Physical exertion causes her shortness of breath. She suffers from incontinence (uses pads), has a skin condition, severe hearing loss, and a COPD diagnosis (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). The gentleman is bedridden, suffers from incontinence (uses diapers and pads), has significantly limited mobility, but is largely mentally oriented. Diagnoses include gait disturbance with a risk of falls, spinal stenosis, restless legs syndrome, polyneuropathy, decubitus, and lower leg ulcers. Care includes help with meal preparation 3 times a day, cleaning the kitchen, laundry, and maintaining cleanliness in the house. The caregiver assists with household chores, dressing (e.g., socks, jacket), and small shopping trips. The gentleman needs a drink in the morning at 7:00 AM (he is often already awake from 6:00 AM). Breakfast is served after the nursing service leaves (around 9:00 AM), who performs personal hygiene, dressing, and wound care. The caregiver also helps with serving meals, changing diapers (when the nursing service is absent), serves lunch and dinner, and offers drinks in between. Night care is not regular and is not standardly required. Assistance with lifting is only needed for the gentleman. Mobility aids for moderate physical assistance are available.
