Caregiver Illerrieden

Care for an 82-year-old elderly lady, 80 kg, 170 cm, with dementia, cancer, frailty, and post-fall with a fractured hip. In recent weeks, she underwent surgery for intestinal obstruction with partial bowel removal, hospitalization for acute kidney failure, and an allergic reaction to medication. The lady is bedridden, requires assistance with standing, transfers, and repositioning, but cooperates with lifting. She is incontinent of urine and stool and uses incontinence aids, which the caregiver changes. Her mood fluctuates; she can be verbally confrontational or apathetic, thus preferring a calm environment and not wanting to be unnecessarily disturbed. Assistance is needed with personal hygiene, intimate care, dressing, toileting, feeding, monitoring fluid intake, and medication reminders. A nursing service provides medication administration, wound care, and other medical procedures several times a week. The role also includes cooking, household cleaning, and general domestic chores, which the caregiver performs together with the granddaughter. Care for four cats is only needed occasionally. Nighttime assistance is only required occasionally; the lady will call the caregiver if needed. A walker and a commode chair are available; a wheelchair has been ordered. Free time is negotiable.
