Care for an 82-year-old gentleman, 85 kg, 185 cm, suffering from myasthenia gravis and general senile weakness. He has a history of falls. He is mentally fit, without dementia. The gentleman is currently bedridden, unable to get up on his own, and his motor skills are gradually deteriorating. Transfers are needed approximately 3 times a day. Lifting is required during transfers, and a physically fit caregiver is necessary. Mobility is possible with support; walking on stairs is not possible. He is completely dependent on assistance for hygiene and showering. He also requires full assistance with dressing. He needs help with eating and toileting as well. He is partially incontinent, especially at night. A bath lift and a walker are available; further aids can be provided as needed. The caregiver is also responsible for cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Night work is not required. The gentleman enjoys watching television. Free time is by arrangement; relatives visit daily and can provide coverage during the caregiver's time off. Shops are 1-2 km away.
