Care for a 72-year-old lady, 68 kg, after brain tumor surgery. The lady is paralyzed on the right side after a stroke, has limited motor skills, and uses a wheelchair for mobility both indoors and outdoors. Transfers are needed several times a day with light assistance, and there is a risk of falling. She suffers from depression (takes medication) and is incontinent, wearing diapers. She does not have dementia but occasionally refuses help. She requires partial assistance with eating (sometimes needs to be fed), full assistance with dressing and undressing (husband selects clothes), and full assistance with toileting and personal hygiene. Adherence to a daily schedule, supervision of medication intake, regular appointments with a speech therapist, companionship, wheelchair walks, excursions (including overnight stays), TV, games, conversations, barbecues on the terrace. The husband handles doctor's appointments. Assistance to the toilet is needed once at night. Her husband lives with her; he is self-sufficient and regularly takes care of the dog. He can be helped with gardening. Meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, laundry, and winter service are needed for both. An outpatient care service visits daily (to wash and dress the lady in the morning). A cleaner comes once a week. Son and daughter visit regularly. There is a dog in the household. The caregiver has a private bathroom.
