Care for an 87-year-old gentleman, 75 kg, 166 cm, suffering from moderate dementia. Symptoms include mild confusion, impaired short-term memory, occasional word-finding difficulties, and repetition of questions. Spatial orientation remains intact. Five weeks ago, he suffered a fall resulting in a fractured vertebra, significantly limiting his mobility since then. He uses a wheelchair, spends much time in bed, and requires assistance with transfers. He has dysphagia, hypertension treated with medication, and partial incontinence. The gentleman needs help with transfers to and from the wheelchair; he can cooperate partially based on his current health condition. He requires assistance with dressing, personal hygiene, showering, using the toilet, and incontinent care. When eating, meals must be served, and safe swallowing must be supervised due to dysphagia. A hospital bed is available, an anti-decubitus mattress is being prepared, and a hoist may be provided in the future. The primary responsibility is the care of the gentleman, assistance with all daily activities, personal hygiene, mobility, and supervision during the day. Night duty is required 1 to 2 times per night, mainly for toilet visits or incontinent care. The gentleman lives in a shared household with his wife, who manages the household, cooking, and general housework. The caregiver may also assist her as needed, but the main focus remains on caring for the senior. Free time by agreement.
