Care for an 86-year-old elderly lady, 44 kg, 150 cm, who has dementia and has had three strokes. Following a fall in June, she suffered a comminuted fracture of her left shoulder and upper arm. She is almost completely blind. One eye is blind, and on the other, she has approximately 3% vision. She has problems with short-term memory and time orientation. She often repeats herself and asks the same questions. She recognizes familiar people. She is kind and friendly. The lady uses a wheelchair. She can walk slowly for short distances with a walker or when guided by the hand. She needs assistance when getting up from bed or an armchair, and due to dizziness, she must rise slowly. She requires complete help with hygiene, dressing, undressing, and toileting. She has both urinary and fecal incontinence and needs help changing incontinence products. She needs help with eating; the food needs to be cut into small pieces, and she needs to be fed as necessary. Adequate fluid intake must be monitored. The caregiver is also responsible for meal preparation, household chores, laundry, shopping, accompanying her to doctor's appointments, general errands, and managing the daily routine. Companionship, conversation, singing, spending time outdoors, and wheelchair walks are important. Medications need to be prepared and their intake supervised. Nighttime assistance may be needed approximately once per night, not regularly. The son also lives in the household but is often away from home. He handles shopping, transportation to doctor's appointments, and takes care of the garden. Household management is coordinated with the son. Free time by agreement.
