Care for an 85-year-old lady, 157 cm and 70 kg, suffering from dementia, is set for treatment. She cannot recognize people, neither outside the home nor within her own environment, she is disoriented. She has poor short-term memory. She does not attempt to wander off. Her speech is clear, and she can engage in simple conversations. She has difficulty formulating sentences but can express her needs. Her hearing and eyesight are fine. She is not incontinent. She moves independently within the house and can stand up and go to the toilet by herself. Outside the house, she uses a walker and requires accompaniment. The lady is afraid of being left alone, so it is important that someone is always nearby. Family members (son or daughter) sleep in the room with the senior at night. The lady enjoys helping around the house but needs proper guidance. She likes handicrafts and spending time in the garden. The caregiver assists with personal hygiene – helping her enter the bath or shower; a bath lift is available. She assists with dressing – selecting and putting away clothes, and regularly changing them. It is also required to prepare her medications, prepare meals (preferably of soft consistency or finely chopped), ensure adequate fluid intake, clean, take care of laundry, do grocery shopping (by arrangement, together with the family), and help wherever necessary. It is important to maintain a daily routine, provide companionship and conversation, and go for walks. The lady cooperates to the extent possible. It is necessary to accompany the lady to doctor's appointments. Night work is not required. Lifting is not necessary. The lady has care level 4.
