Care for an independently living 88-year-old lady, 58 kg, 160 cm, who suffers from mild dementia. Her mobility depends on her current condition; she walks with a walker both inside and outside the home, and requires accompaniment outdoors. The dementia is in a milder stage; the lady recognizes people by name, is well-oriented in her home environment, and her temporal orientation is preserved. However, she needs a firm daily routine, can no longer organize appointments herself, and her short-term memory is deteriorating. She also experiences word-finding difficulties. She does not leave the house alone. Partial assistance is needed with dressing and personal hygiene, though she manages most activities independently. The caregiver primarily assists with getting in and out of the bath, showering, and washing hair. She manages the toilet independently; incontinence is not present, and she uses pads only as a precaution. The lady takes her meals independently; regular shared meals and supervision of fluid intake are important. The lady does not take medication. The scope of work includes household management such as meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, and laundry. Shopping is done by agreement and often together. The family arranges doctor's visits; the home doctor visits directly at the residence, and physiotherapy takes place at home. An important part of the care is maintaining the daily structure, companionship, and activation. The lady enjoys doing household chores, cooking and baking together with the caregiver, and likes going for walks together. Personality-wise, she is initially cautious and reserved, but if she bonds with the caregiver, cooperation is usually very good. A stairlift is available. Lifting and night work are not required. Free time is arranged by agreement. The caregiver has a private bathroom available.
